Salmon Arm, BC

Chad grew up in small town life ranging from SK to AB before finally settling in Abbotsford, BC where he raised his two, now adult, children.

Jessica was born and raised in the suburbs of Fraser Valley BC, where she began to raise her 3 boys.

Together, Chad and Jessica sought to create the life they long dreamed of, the life of artists and entrepreneurs. While both their businesses thrived where they began, in Maple Ridge, BC over the last decade, Chad longed for the peace and community of the small town life, while Jessica’s heart craved a change from the only landscape she had ever known. But where would they go?

In Feb 2021, Jessica lost one of her most dearest friends, Nicole. With the pandemic of 2020 still lingering on, it wasn’t until August that they were finally able to have a celebration of her life. What better place to cherish her memory but at one of her most beloved places on this earth, Little Green Ranch, in Mara, BC.

Little Green Ranch is home to Nicole’s brother and sister-in-law and was the location of choice in 2006 where Nicole married the love of her life, Montana. So it felt fitting, to all, that this was where we would remember her.

Saturday morning, before the celebration of life, Chad and Jessica ventured into nearby Salmon Arm to check out the local market they had heard about. As they started their decent down into the the heart of Salmon Arm, they audibly gasped and their eyes grew large in wonder at the sight before them. A sprawling little city nestled into a lush, green valley at the base of surrounding mountains and the Shuswap Lake.

They made their way into the downtown core, and found they were surrounded by beautiful heritage buildings full of character and history. As they made their way to the local summer market, the air buzzing with happy voices, the sound of musicians dancing through the trees and so many delightful scents from the vendors wares they were humbled by the energy of the quant city. Jessica slipped her hand into Chads while simultaneously saying aloud… “this is home.”

They truly feel that this is a gift from Nicole, she led them home.
